InfuSystem’s Susan Wozniak Receives 2013 ONS “Excellence in Oncology Nursing Health Policy & Advocacy” Award
MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich.-- InfuSystem Holdings, Inc. (NYSE MKT: INFU) (“InfuSystem” or the “Company”), a leading national provider of infusion pumps and related services for the healthcare industry in the United States, today announced that Susan Wozniak, R.N., M.S.H.S, O.C.N®., Director of Clinical Research, Education, and Innovation at InfuSystem, has been named winner of the 2013 “Excellence in Oncology Nursing Health Policy & Advocacy” Award. She will accept the coveted honor at the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Annual Congress in Washington, DC, April 25-28.
ONS excellence awards recognize members for outstanding contributions and achievements within their particular fields of nursing expertise. “Susan’s constant advocacy on behalf of her patients, peers, and the profession is a beacon for nursing,” said Alec Stone, ONS director of health policy. “She is deserving of the ONS Advocacy Award precisely because—like nursing itself—Susan is an activist by nature, not just by day. Her leadership in advancing health issues, evidence-based research, patient care, and nursing education make her a shining example of what is best about all nurses.”
Commenting on her selection, Ms. Wozniak said: “Nurses have many professional responsibilities of which advocacy is just one. Yet, it is a critical one that affords the opportunity to create a legacy. I have learned that patience is a virtue, persistence is key, and, when nurses talk, legislators stop to listen. It is humbling to have been nominated by members of the Metro Detroit ONS for work that I cherish and a special honor to have been selected as the national recipient of this excellence award. There are, indeed, so many unsung nurses who advocate forcibly for their patients every day in so many ways.”
Speaking on behalf of all of Ms. Wozniak’s InfuSystem colleagues, Chief Executive Officer, Eric Steen expressed admiration for her accomplishments. “We are all genuinely privileged to work alongside someone with the skills, dedication, and perhaps most important, grace, that Susan exhibits every day,” he said. “We are proud to have her represent all of us in this way.”
In addition to her formal job duties, Ms. Wozniak is a state of Michigan representative to the National Patient Advocate Foundation President’s ELITE Council; current President of ANA-Michigan; and Board member, Outreach Education Coordinator, and the Past President to the Metro Detroit Oncology Nursing Society.
